When do I register my child for participation in the marching band?

There are a series of informational/registration meetings held throughout the first few months of the calendar year. Each meeting contains information about the upcoming season and the necessary instructions for registration. For more information, please see the LWMB Season Calendar.

Is there bus transportation to practice during the regular school year?

A shuttle bus will be available to transport applicable students from the L-W campuses to the L-W campus hosting the rehearsal. At the conclusion of the school day, students should immediately go to the school bus pickup/drop-off location, and board the bus intended for marching band students only. Please be aware - shuttle busses are NOT available at the conclusion of the marching band rehearsal. Students will need to be picked up at the scheduled campus at the conclusion of the rehearsal.

At the conclusion of summer school, students should immediately go to the school bus pickup/drop-off location, and board the bus intended for marching band students only. Please be aware - shuttle busses are NOT available at the conclusion of the marching band rehearsal. Students will need to be picked up at the scheduled campus at the conclusion of the rehearsal.

Does my child need to be at every rehearsal and performance?

​All LWMB students are expected to be at all scheduled rehearsals on the calendar. Please see the LWMB Season Calendar.

We are only successful as an ensemble when we have the full cooperation and effort of all members at all times! In a class, if your work is not good, you hurt only yourself; in the Band, you hurt the whole group. Your obligations are demanding, but the rewards are many!

What is the time commitment for students choosing to be in the "football bands?"

The required time commitment for students in the "football bands" consists of a few rehearsals in August and the applicable Fridays for football games.

What is the time commitment for students in the "Performance Level" during the school week?

During a regular week of school, the LWMB rehearses as a full group on two days a week from 4:30-8:30PM. Students will also rehearse in smaller groups (sectionals) one day a week. The smaller groups rehearsal day changes to a third full group rehearsal starting in October. On Saturdays, students either rehearse or compete, depending on the season calendar. The rehearsal layout is subject to change. Please see the current LWMB Season Calendar for more information.

Is being a part of "Madrigals," competitive marching band, and summer school a possibility?

Yes - Madrigals, Marching Band, and Summer school are all possible. The marching schedule wraps around the summer school schedule. Madrigal camp falls between Band Camp and the start of school. The school year schedule is developed with Madrigals rehearsing at different times than the marching band.
